Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical practice that has been a therapeutic tool for thousands of years. It is the practice of inserting needles in specific points on the body, resulting in both a local and systemic physiologic response. In Chinese medicine, acupuncture is often complemented with other modalities like herbal therapies, massage, and diet.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine has been practiced in East Asia for thousands of years for all types of medical conditions. However, with the scientific advancements in modern medicine in the 20th Century, the medical research community has been able to validate the mechanism of acupuncture for a few specific conditions, mainly pain management, neurologic conditions, and stress and anxiety relief.
